Report – Manchester United have opened negotiations to sign £51million star but face serious competition

Dias Felix Benfica

Manchester United must strengthen their back-line in the summer transfer window and they are linked with Portuguese international and Benfica star Ruben Dias.

According to an exclusive report covered by Record, Man United have opened negotiations to sign the 21-year-old central defender but they face serious competition from Italian champions Juventus, who are in pole position to hire his services.

The Portuguese outlet have mentioned that Dias has got a release clause of 60 million euros (£51million) in his contract and the Primeira Liga giants are demanding full payment of his clause for his departure.

Transfer: Report – £40million star would prefer to sign for Man United

The young defender made his senior international debut last year and so far, he has made 8 appearances for Portugal.

In the current campaign, so far, he has played 53 games in all competitions for Benfica, scored 4 goals and also provided 3 assists.

At the moment, Manchester United have got center backs like Smalling, Rojo, Bailly, Lindelof and Jones in their defense. However, they badly lack a leader, who is good enough to command the back-line.

Therefore, I think a classy center half must be lured but he should have ample experience under his belt as well and that is not the case with Ruben Dias, who only broke into Benfica’s first team last season.

In your view, is he good enough to become the leader of Solskjaer’s back-line?
