Former Sky Sports pundit Richard Keys hints that Gareth Bale could make the move to Old Trafford before this month’s transfer deadline. The Wales international has been the subject of strong speculation in recent weeks, and Keys believes there is a possibility of the attacker sealing a switch to Manchester United.
Writing in his personal blog, Keys expects frantic transfer activity during the dying stages of the transfer window, and believes that United still have a chance of pursuing the 28-year-old forward, he said: “Finally, to address an issue I keep getting asked about – Bale to United. Transfers aren’t a perfect science – but whilst the window remains open that deal has still got a chance and so have the others that there’s been so much speculation about. I believe we’re going to see some really big money spent before the end of August, but exactly where is difficult to be certain about. Just watch this space…”
Prior to the European Super Cup, Jose Mourinho hinted that he would fight for the services of the ex-Spurs man, but this was later dismissed by the Special One himself following Bale’s involvement in Real Madrid’s 2-1 triumph over United.
The Portuguese coach has since highlighted that he is content with his three signings for the summer (Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic), and there is no additional pressure from his side to pursue a fourth recruit.
