If reports in the media are anything to go by then it looks like Manchester United would not be able to sign Jadon Sancho this summer and are looking at other options.
According to The Mail, Man United are seriously considering making a move to sign Leon Bailey to reinforce their attack.
Transfer: £80million playmaker ready to secure Man United move – Report
The renowned British media outlet have revealed that the Jamaican international is being considered as a cost effective alternative since he is only valued at £40million.
The 6-capped international is naturally a winger, who can effectively play on either flank and even as a center forward if needed.
The 22-year-old had a memorable 2017-18 campaign with Bayer Leverkusen in which he directly contributed in 15 goals (9 goals and 6 assists) in 25 Bundesliga starts.
However, last season, he only managed to score 5 goals in 29 league appearances and in the current campaign, he has spent majority of this time out of the starting XI.
So far, Bailey has started just 9 league games this term. He has missed 5 games due to injury and 5 fixtures due to red card suspension.
Therefore, apart from drop of form, the former Genk player’s discipline has been a massive concern as well. In such a scenario, it is better for Man United look elsewhere to strengthen their offense.
His current contract with the German side will expire in 2023, as per recent form and in the current crisis, it will be fair to say that he is not really worth £40million.
