Serious Man Utd have financial backing to secure signing of £327,000-a-week star – Report

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United have been linked with Edinson Cavani for quite some time and once again the Uruguayan international is in the focus.

The South American center forward was heavily linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain in the winter transfer window but now L’Equipe have reported that there is a chance that he could stay with the Ligue 1 champions.

Transfer: Man Utd leading to seal £100million+ signing of boyhood Chelsea fan – Report

The famous French outlet have reported that Man United are seriously interested and have the financially backing to secure the signing of the former Napoli man.

Cavani’s current contract with PSG will expire this summer and he earns around £327,000-a-week (L’Equipe – talkSPORT).

The 33-year-old is a proven quality forward, who is Paris Saint-Germain’s all time leading goal-scorer. For his country, he has already played 116 times and scored 50 goals.

In the last campaign, he made 33 appearances in all competitions under the management of Thomas Tuchel and directly contributed in no fewer than 32 goals (23 goals and 9 assists).

However, unfortunately, this season, El Matador has mostly been on the treatment table due to consistent injury concerns. He only managed to start 7 times in the league and netted 4 goals before the suspension of the campaign.

At Old Trafford, Man Utd do need to strengthen their strike-force department. They have mainly used Martial, a natural winger, in the CF role this term and have not adequately replaced Belgian international Romelu Lukaku as yet.

Odion Ighalo has done well since his loan arrival in the winter transfer window but the Nigerian is not a long term fix. Similarly, Cavani would also be a short term fix.

The Red Devils need to sign a proven striker, who would be able to serve the club in the long run. In your view, who should Solskjaer sign to improve Man Utd’s strike-force?

  1. I think Man Utd should go for Raul Jeminez of Wolves. He is a quality CF with so much experience in the league.
