Man Utd have signed one defender and one attacker this transfer window, with two more defenders on their way to Old Trafford. The only position for which the Red Devils are yet to sign is a new midfielder for the club.
Last season, Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat spent his time at Old Trafford on a season-long loan spell. Throughout the last month, there were different claims linking the Moroccan international to Manchester United.
However, the Red Devils are yet to agree a deal to sign the 27-year-old this summer. To this date, he remains a Fiorentina player but his desire is to leave the club this summer. Man Utd though have been focused on other targets.
As per the Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Amrabat still dreams of returning to Old Trafford but has interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.
One thing he is clear about is that he wants to continue his career at a different club.
Adding further intrigue to the narrative, La Gazzetta Dello Sport claims that Amrabat thought he would never wear Fiorentina’s purple again.
Still, the lack of an offer from Man Utd means he has made himself available for selection at the Italian club. His dream however continues to be a return to Old Trafford.
The Moroccan international earns £31,000 a week at Fiorentina and will be keen on securing a move away in the days to come.
If Man Utd fail to sign any other midfielder this summer, Amrabat would be a good market opportunity to look at.
Despite an indifferent time at Old Trafford last season, the Atlas Lions star came into his own in the closing stages of last season. Only time will tell us if he will wear a Red Devils jersey next season.
