Manchester United need to lure a proven quality striker, who would serve the club in the long run and reports suggest that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer really wants to lure Erling Haaland.

Transfer: Man Utd could move to steal signing of £28.5million star – Report

The famous British source have claimed that the main obstacle in the way to sign the prolific goal-scorer is Mino Raiola. Still, it is stated that the 20-time English champions are prepared to deal with the super agent to get a quality player like Haaland.

The Red Devils tried to sign the Norwegian international in January 2020 but he opted to move to the Bundesliga instead.

He scored week in week out for Salzburg in the first half of the last campaign and has done the same since moving to Dortmund. So far, in 33 games for the German club, the £130,000-a-week forward (The Mail) has netted as many goals.

On the other hand, as far as his international record is concerned, so far, in 6 starts, he has scored as many goals for Norway. Haaland was the second best goal-scorer in the Champions League last season and in this season’s tournament, he is currently the joint leader with 6 goals.

It must be remember that no Man United center forward has managed to score 20+ goals in the Premier League since Robin van Persie achieved the feat in the title winning 2012-13 season.

In January 2020, Man Utd were able to sign Ighalo (on loan), who has rarely played under Solskjaer, especially this season. Moreover, they lured Cavani in the summer and the Uruguayan is a veteran as well. The Old Trafford club need a long term solution, a world class striker must be lured and Erling Haaland perfectly fits the bill.
