Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has reportedly been identified as a potential target for Tottenham Hotspur when the transfer window reopens next month. The England international has been sparingly used by Jose Mourinho this term, and he has managed just a solitary start in the Premier League.
According to The Sun, the £70,000-a-week defender is in a two-man shortlist alongside Everton’s Ross Barkley as Spurs look to reinforce their squad during the winter transfer window. The north London club are currently one point adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool, and manager Mauricio Pochettino is aiming to make January additions to enhance his side’s Champions League hopes.
Shaw has recently earned a run of games across all competitions, but his future has still been put into question with Mourinho reported to be planning an approach for Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon. Meanwhile, The Sun suggest that United could negotiate a part-exchange deal with Spurs with Danny Rose moving the other way.
The former Southampton graduate has just over six months left on his current deal, but United have the option of a 12-month extension clause which could be triggered at the turn of the year. Shaw is presently behind Ashley Young in the pecking order for the left-back position.
