Star can expect £91million contract at Man Utd – Woodward will stop at nothing

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Man United are looking to strengthen their central defense and as per reports, it seems that they are very serious about signing Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

Last night, we covered a report (via The Mail) claiming that the Red Devils are prepared to offer close to the Foxes’ valuation of £80million to hire the services of the former Hull City center half.

More recently, The Sun have exclusively revealed that Ed Woodward will stop at nothing to lure the Three Lions star. It is mentioned that the Man United chief executive is ready meet the asking price of £80million to sign the 26-year-old star.

Transfer: Report – £67million star could end up signing for favourites Man United

The British outlet have claimed that Maguire has been told that if he moves to United, he can expect a mammoth five-year contract (worth £91million) that will make him earn £350,000-a-week. Furthermore, it is stated that United could also offer the likes of Bailly and Rojo in the deal if Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is interested.

The Old Trafford club regularly leaked goals in the last campaign due to an inconsistent back-line and therefore, Solskjaer must splash the cash to reinforce the department.

United have an overcrowded central defense at the moment with players like Jones, Smalling, Lindelof, Bailly and Rojo around. Therefore, if they can bring the price down by offering a center half or two to lure Maguire then it would be great.

On the other hand, if Woodward opts to splash £80million to get the signing done then the England international will become the most expensive defender ever (The Sun).

Last year, after an impressive 2017-18 season with the Foxes and an excellent World Cup campaign with England, Harry Maguire signed a new deal worth £80,000-a-week (The Sun).

If United really are prepared to more than quadruple (£350,000-a-week mentioned above) the player’s current wages then I think, he could be very interested in moving to Old Trafford.

  1. A very stupid move to offer such a massive price for such a pedestrian defender! To top it all, a way over the top salary as well. He is not good enough for Man U and certainly not in Virgil van Dijk’s class who went for much less and does not command that type of income at Liverpool. What is Woodward thinking? How will it impact the current players in the squad who see the massive weekly wage for an inferior player? Bad, bad mistake.

  2. Maguire 1st preference is City so why would we be 2nd best get players in to play for the badge not the money another stupid stupud insult by Woodward on this great club get rid of him before he does anymore damage.

  3. It’s ALL Press rumors in conspiracy with football agent designed to get Maguire a good deal and push up his transfer fee. I posit that the Press is KILLING FOOTBALL with these nonesense. Man Utd is linked with Almost every player to hike their fee and I think FIFA must design a binding fair transfer fee for All players. You CANNOT be paying salary of a 10mill for a player and Suddenly hike their Value them five times more b/c of transfer. It’s Killing Football !

  4. I think utd need to tap into fergies brain and ask him 4 help..with signings..he made 4 title winning teams so it wouldnt be a bad thing asking 4 his advice..i think de ligt and maguire would make a good partnership, they are going to have to splash the cash but hey its not like they dont have it..sanchez gone theres £500k a week saved also i dnt think ole is the man to take us through this rebuilding phase, theyve give him the job to early for my liking but im just a supporter what do i know.
