Douglas Costa Juventus

Juventus recently sacked Sarri to appoint Andrea Pirlo as the new head coach. The Azzurri legend wants to offload certain players and one of them is Douglas Costa.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Italian champions have offered the Brazilian winger to Manchester United.

Transfer: Man Utd have made contact to sign £50million+ player – Face competition

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, The Old Lady have held talks with the Old Trafford outfit and have proposed Costa’s transfer.

The renowned Italian journalist told Sky Sports:

“Juventus want him to leave. His agents are moving to find a solution, they have talked to Manchester United, to understand if the would be interested.”

“They will think about it, but the problem is that Douglas Costa is often injured, so this is a problem for a club that wants to buy him. The agents have talked to Manchester United, for sure, and have proposed his transfer.”

Two days back, on his personal website, Di Marzio reported that the Red Devils are interested in signing the 29-year-old attacker and are currently evaluating him.

Costa won every major domestic prize with Bayern Munich prior to joining the Bianconeri. He had an injury hit last season and when fit, he was mainly a bench warmer.

The 31-capped international only made one appearance in the Champions League as a substitute and missed all the remaining fixtures due to injury.

In the Italian Serie A, the South American winger missed 13 games due to fitness concerns and only managed to start in 7 fixtures under Sarri. In all competitions, the Samba star made 11 starts and directly contributed (Transfermarkt) in 10 goals (3 goals and 7 assists).

The Selecao attacker’s current contract with the Italian giants will expire in 2022 and he is earning (Calcio Mercato) 6 million euros annually (£104,000-a-week).

In your view, should Manchester United move to sign Douglas Costa if they fail to lure Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window?

  1. Personally, I feel United should sign him but not as an alternative to Sancho. If United is signing him as an alternative then they should sign another striker.

  2. The last thing Manchester United need is another “sick note” player. They a viable right wing player who is available for 30 plus games> Now I know any player can get injured at any time throughout the season but to buy a player who is known to struggle with fitness is pure madness
