Man Utd have tabled a contract offer and are soon expected to reach an agreement over terms to sign Matthijs de Ligt, as per reports.
According to De Telegraaf, the Red Devils have offered a five year deal to lure the Dutch international from Bayern Munich.
Transfer: Deal close – Man Utd to secure signing of key £20million man
As per the news source, the management of the Netherlands defender is negotiating with the Old Trafford outfit and an agreement is expected to be reached in the ‘short term’.
After securing personal terms, Matthijs de Ligt will then wait for Man Utd to reach an agreement with the Bavarians.
The Dutch source have mentioned that the two clubs are already in discussion over the fees of the transfer and Ten Hag is pushing to get the deal over the line.
De Telegraaf have not reported the figures of the contract that United have offered to the 24-year-old central defender.
Currently, he takes home a salary of around £260,000 a week and it is likely he would be looking for a pay rise.
Last season, Manchester United had a defensive crisis due to persistent injury concerns and they only kept nine clean sheets in the Premier League.
Now that Raphael Varane has officially left the club, Ten Hag needs an experienced and young center half to replace the Frenchman for the long term.
In such a scenario, do you think Matthijs de Ligt is the right choice to reinforce the Man Utd backline?
