Manchester United need to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window and now a new name is in the lime light in the form of Donny van de Beek.
Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, Marcel Van der Kraan revealed that the Ajax star wants to sign for United or Spurs. The Dutch football expert claimed:
“I think he’s (Van de Beek) got his eyes set on a club like Man United or Tottenham”
“I’ve been talking to his agent, and he said if that would materialize it would be something right up his street.”
Transfer: Terms agreed – Man Utd ready £50million move to secure signing
As far as United’s midfield is concerned, the club have already lost a versatile midfielder in the form of Ander Herrera and a replacement must be signed for the Spaniard.
In such a scenario, Donny van de Beek would be a quality signing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Dutch star is a versatile midfielder, who can effectively play in the center of the park and also in the attacking third. For the national side, he has mainly played in the central midfield but for Ajax, he has mostly played in the attacking midfield.
The 22-year-old was impressive for the Eredivisie side in the last campaign and helped them win the domestic double.
In all competitions, the Netherlands star featured in 57 games under the management of Eric ten Hag and directly contributed in 30 goals (17 goals and 13 assists).
He scored crucial goals in the knock out stages of the Champions League to help Ajax beat Juventus and Spurs away from home.
His current contract with the Dutch champions will expire in 2022 and as per reports (Marca), he is valued at 60 million euros (£53.5million).
