Big Move: West Brom consider stunning move for Man United duo

West Brom are planning a raid on Manchester United as they expressed interest in defensive duo Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.

The Baggies’ manager Tony Pulis is trying to revamp his defense, and it seems that he is a big fan of Jones and Smalling. Pulis already have a former Man United defender Jonny Evans in his squad and wants to add more quality to the back, so he will need to fork out around £30 million to get the pair of center-backs.

In the 2016-17 campaign, both of them appeared in only 18 Premier League games and following Victor Lindelof’s arrival, Jones’ and Smalling’s EPL playing time might be even more reduced. It looks like Mourinho prefers Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, and Daley Blind over the pair and now with the addition of the Swede, the “Special One” could opt to sell them.

However, he did include both players in his pre-season squad, and the official offer is not received yet, so at the moment, Jones and Smalling are Man United players. Jones and Smalling were already linked with a move away this summer as Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger made inquiries over the potential transfer of the duo.

Jose Mourinho doubts Smalling’s mental strength and he is not sure his qualities are good enough to play for the Red Devils, so he would likely be prepared to cash in on him if the suitable offer comes. West Brom have an excellent relationship with United as they already brought Darren Fletcher and Jonny Evans in the past few years and the two Englishmen could become their newest additions.
