Who should Man United sign to improve their attack?

Haaland and Sancho

In the winter transfer window last year, Manchester United splashed the cash to sign Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese international has turned out to be world class for us and without him, we are not the same side at all.

The good thing is that we do have quality players in almost every position but there are certain areas in the attacking third that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to improve sooner rather than later.

In our view, Man United need to sign a top quality right winger and a clinical center forward, who would serve the club in the long run. We already have a world class CAM in the form of Fernandes and Rashford is top quality on the left flank. In case you want to punt on football then look no further than the deals set according to bookies at Comeon.

Right Wing

Manchester United were heavily interested in signing Jadon Sancho last summer. The Old Trafford outfit even agreed personal terms with the England international. However, in the end, they did not meet the 120 million euros asking price of Dortmund and the player is still with the German club.

We also tried to move in to sign Ousmane Dembele but the French international decided against leaving Barcelona.

At the moment, we have played like Mason Greenwood, Daniel James and Juan Mata, who can effectively play on the right wing. The Spanish veteran is past his best and Valencia are interested in signing him for free next summer.

James scored three goals in the first four league games that he played for us last season and then failed to find the net even once in the entire league campaign. He was replaced by Greenwood, who proved to be brilliant in the second half of the last campaign but this season, the young English attacker has been average.

To improve the right wing, Jadon Sancho remains our priority target and reports (Mirror Sport) indicate that Man United could make an offer to finally get his signing done next summer. However, we should have alternatives in the sight as well because the Dortmund star is going to cost a lot and the Bundesliga side are under no pressure to sell.

In such a scenario, we have recently covered a story stating that Wolves’ Adama Traore is available for a cheap fee of 40 million euros that too this month and Solskjaer should move to get his signing done.

Center Forward

Anthony Martial mainly played as our center forward last season. He did manage to score 17 goals in the league but the Frenchman is not a natural No.9 and over the years, he has played as a winger.

In the winter window of 2020, we lured Nigerian international Odion Ighalo from China but the former Watford player, who did perform well last term, mainly warmed the bench this term and has returned to Shanghai after completing his loan spell.

In the summer transfer window, Solskjaer opted to splash the cash on Uruguayan international Edinson Cavani, who left PSG as their record goal scorer to join the Red Devils on a one year deal. The South American striker is without doubt a world class finisher but his best days are long gone and we need someone for the long term.

In such a scenario, United should splash the cash to sign Erling Haaland from Dortmund. The Norwegian international, who has played under the management of Solskjaer at Molde, has been a goal-scoring machine. He deservedly won the Golden Boy award for scoring regularly last year and has what it takes to improve United’s strike-force.

Last season, he scored against European giants like Napoli, PSG and Liverpool in the Champions League and this season, he has scored vs Zenit, Lazio and Club Brugge. In all competitions, so far, he has started 18 games for BvB this term and scored 21 goals.

Retired Dutch international, Robin van Persie, scored 26 goals in Manchester United title winning campaign (2012-13) under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson. Since then, not even a single Red Devil striker has managed to score 20 goals in the Premier League and that is one of the main reasons why we have not been able to win the title.

Haaland has proved his worth against the best of teams in the continent and even for the national side, he has managed to score 6 goals in as many starts. His contract with Dortmund has a clause of 75 million euros that would become active in the summer of 2022. So, he is going to be much more expensive next summer.
