Report – Man United moved to sign £34.5million playmaker – Decision made

Marco Asensio

Manchester United have been linked with Spanish international and Real Madrid star, Marco Asensio and we have an update coming from Spain today.

Yesterday, we covered a story (via Cadena Ser) starting the Red Devils moved in with an offer to sign the La Roja playmaker from the Los Blancos.

Transfer: Man United agree £52million contract for signing – Report

According to a report covered by AS today, the Old Trafford outfit moved in to inquire about the player’s intentions but did not make any concrete offer.

The Madrid-based news outlet have mentioned that the likes of Liverpool and AC Milan showed interest in hiring the services of the 29-capped international.

However, even the Reds and the Rossoneri opted not to make any bid. Therefore, due to lack of offers, Asensio is stuck at Madrid.

AS claim the 26-year-old has now officially told his agent, Jorge Mendes, to inform Real Madrid that he will not be leaving in the summer transfer window, which will shut down in just over 12 hours.

The La Liga and European champions value Asensio at around 40 million euros (MD) but they will have to settle for nothing if the player stays for an entire year and completes his contract at the Bernabeu (June 2023).

The Spaniard failed to earn a regular starting spot under Zidane and the situation has not changed for him even under the management of Ancelotti.

Marco is naturally a right winger and in all fairness, he would warm the bench even if he opts to join United. We already have two big-money signings in the form of Sancho and Antony, who mainly play on the right flank.
