Man Utd agreed personal terms, now prepare to finally sign £80m player – Report

Manchester United are entering into a new era under Ruben Amorim and the Portuguese tactician will be hoping to turn the season’s situation around.

Ruud van Nistelrooy did a good job at arresting the slide and it is up to the ex-Sporting boss to now develop a project.

Amorim is most likely going to set Manchester United up in a 3-4-3, which has the need for three central defenders.

Luckily for the Red Devils, they have a number of options to play in that position – Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans.

Despite this, the Portuguese tactician might want to make an upgrade and this could see the club return for one of their summer targets.

Man Utd agreed personal terms with Jarrad Branthwaite back then but were unable to get Everton to sell him.

In many ways, the Red Devils would assume they dodged a bullet, as Branthwaite has been battling an injury and hardly featured for Everton so far this season.

However, he is set to be a huge prospect for the future and thus, as per Give Me Sport, they prepare to finally sign the £80m-rated player.

Branthwaite is widely regarded as one of the biggest young talents in the Premier League. He already won a cap for the Three Lions but failed to make it to the Euros squad. The 22-year-old would be a great addition to Man Utd.

Amorim has three solid centre-backs options to use at Man Utd – De Ligt, Martinez and Yoro. Lindelof and Maguire can be good options to rotate but there are concerns if they can have the same kind of influence if they are starters every week.

Thus, it makes a lot of sense that Man Utd are looking at another center-back in the form of Jarrad Branthwaite. With the number of games they play, game time is unlikely to be an issue and let’s wait and see how it plays out going forward.
