It is no coincidence that ever since Ruben Amorim has been appointed as the new manager of Manchester United, the club have been linked with a number of players who can play in the left wing-back role.
Just yesterday, we covered a story about the Red Devils being interested in Fulham star, Antonee Robinson.

A couple of days ago, they were linked with bringing back Alvaro Carreras from Benfica, a player who has been at the club in the past.
What is very evident here is that this is one position that just not Amorim, the entire football world understands could be Manchester United’s weakness. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s fitness issues make them unreliable options in the long run.
Now, as per Marca (press image provided below), Man Utd, along with Barcelona have come ‘closest’ to try and sign Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, whose contract with the German club expires at the end of the season.
Manchester United have tried to tempt him with a monetary offer, like they did with Leny Yoro back in the summer while Barcelona have tried to pull on Davies’ heartstrings by try to convince him using the Hansi Flick factor.
However, as per the report, Davies has been unmoved by either club as he continues to dream of a Real Madrid move. Manchester United will know how difficult it would be to compete with Los Blancos for a player’s signature.
Davies would be a dream for the left wing-back role in Amorim’s system for Man Utd. However, it is also something that is very unlikely to happen, considering the Canadian’s quality and the stage of the project we find ourselves at and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
