Man Utd close – £17.2m player convinced to complete Old Trafford move – Reports

Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Manchester United will collide against Leicester City on transfer deadline day and it will be intriguing to see the number of deals that they can complete tomorrow.

If reports in the Spanish media (news image provided below) are anything to go by then the Red Devils could end up signing Sergino Dest from Barcelona before the closure of the window.

According to Sport, Barcelona are looking to sign a right back and players like Hector Bellerin and Meunier are linked with the Nou Camp outfit.

The Catalan club are looking to offload Dest, who is not wanted by Xavi, and it is stated that Man Utd are close to the American international.

As per today’s version of Mundo Deportivo, Old Trafford is the only destination that convinces the 21-year-old because he would be able to reunite with Erik ten Hag.

The renowned news source claim that Barca are ready to sell the young right back but are not prepared to do any swap/exchange deal with the Red Devils.

The former Ajax player’s current contract will expire in 2025 and earlier this month, Sport revealed that Barcelona would only sell him for cash deal worth £17.2m (20 million euros).

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not preferred by Ten Hag but the manager has confirmed that the England international is staying. United might have to actually shelve their plans to sign Dest.

We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming hours.
