Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Manchester United needed an own goal from Brighton to open their account for the new season and even Cristiano Ronaldo could not rescue them.

The Red Devils need to strengthen their strike force and reports have consistently linked them with Benjamin Sesko.

Transfer: £54.7million creative star willing to finally agree Man United move – Corriere dello Sport

A few days ago, we covered a story (via Sport) claiming that the Old Trafford outfit are willing to meet the asking price to sign the teenage sensation this summer.

Now, as per an article published by The Guardian, United’s biggest mistake was to bring Ronaldo back to the side. He does not fit in Ten Hag’s style of play and wants to leave. The dilemma is that the Portuguese superstar cannot find suitors.

The famous news source have mentioned that to reinforce the attack, Man Utd are interested in luring Sesko, however, talks to sign the 19-year-old have been described as complicated.

It is stated that the 20-time English champions might be embarrassed to splash £50million on the youngster when they could have secured his signature for just £2.5million in 2019.

Sesko did impress in the pre-season contest against Liverpool (scored the winning goal) but I do not think that he is good enough to take Ronaldo’s place at Old Trafford.

The veteran star scored 18 goals in the Premier League last season, on the other hand, the Slovenian forward only found the net 5 times in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Ronaldo may not be an ideal player for Ten Hag’s system but he is one of the best finishers in the game and Man Utd cannot afford to let him leave without signing a proven quality replacement.
