Despite the transfer window having slammed shut in England, Manchester United have had no dearth of transfer rumours in recent days. The club has heavily been linked with a transfer for French free agent Adrien Rabiot.
One other player that they had been linked with in recent days is young Colombian left-back, Juan Cabal.
Transfer – Man Utd clear to agree £5.2million a year deal to secure signing now – Report
We covered a story a few days ago revealing that a fee of £25.2m would be sufficient for Man Utd to get a deal done for the Juventus defender.
It’s not been long since he joined the Bianconeri and he is already being linked with an exit. As per Catalan outlet, Nacional, Man Utd are now preparing a £25.2m offer to sign Juan Cabal as a new left-back to the squad.
The left-back has been a problematic area for Erik ten Hag’s squad in the past couple of seasons. Despite having one of the best LBs in England in Luke Shaw, they have struggled to keep him fit. The same goes with Tyrell Malacia too.
This has forced the Dutch coach to innovate and use Diogo Dalot as the left-back. Although the Portuguese defender is comfortable playing in the role, it is not his favored position and there are times that Man Utd’s attack looks lopsided because of this.
Marcus Rashford on the left wing loves to cut in. He isn’t a traditional winger who can hug the touchline. He needs an overlapping left-back to be effect. Unfortunately for him, Diogo Dalot is another player who liked to cut in from the left.
Much of Rashford’s ineffectiveness might be sorted with an overlapping left-back on the outside. Juan Cabal would be an impressive addition to the Man Utd squad.
It might be early days but the Colombian looks like a promising defender and the Red Devils can take advantage early on and look to bring him to Old Trafford in the coming windows.
