Adnan Januzaj is not the part of the Red Devils’ 27-man squad that left for the US for the pre-season tour as Manchester United exit looms.
The 22-year-old Belgian is clearly not in Jose Mourinho’s plans for the upcoming season, and the fact that the Portuguese tactician is chasing Inter Milan’s winger Ivan Perisic significates that Januzaj is surplus the requirements at Old Trafford.
Although it seems that Januzaj’s time at Manchester is over, he will probably find the new suitors quickly as the Turkish giants Galatasaray emerged as the potential next destination. After selling Bruma to Leipzig, Galata needs a new winger, and Januzaj would fit the bill perfectly. Other reports suggest that Adnan could move to Spain as Real Sociedad expressed interest in a Belgium international. Januzaj’s valuation of £12 is certainly not a stumbling block and whichever team he choose he would be a key figure there, while his Old Trafford days are virtually over.
Adnan Januzaj impressed as a youngster and recorded four goals and three assists in 27 Premier League games under David Moyes back in 2013-14. He even inherited Ryan Giggs’ famous No. 11 shirt and was touted as the wonderkid, but then his career at Old Trafford began to stagnate as he only started seven games the following term. In the 2015-16, United loaned him to Borussia Dortmund, but the Germans sent him back after only six months and series of unimpressive displays. Adnan was loaned again last year; this time he moved to Sunderland to reunite with the manager who gave him a chance, David Moyes, but managed to record only three assists in 25 league matches.
Januzaj didn’t develop as many expected, but he is still young and have enough time to get his career back on track, so move away from Old Trafford will be a wise decision for both parties.
