Manchester United are consistently linked with Portuguese international and Porto midfielder, Vitinha.
As per the latest update coming from Portugal, the Red Devils are favorites to hire the services of the 22-year-old this summer.
Transfer: Man Utd have outbid club to sign ‘fantastic’ £50million play breaker – Report
Last night, we covered a story (via O Jogo) claiming that the Old Trafford outfit and the Barca are willing to sign the youngster from the Liga Nos giants in the transfer window.
Moreover, earlier today, we covered a report (via Record) claiming that both Man United and Arsenal are ready to activate the release clause of £35million to sign the midfielder, who is set to leave Porto this summer.
According to a story published by Jornal de Noticias today (press image provided below), Man United are leading the race to sign Vitinha but for now, the 20-time English champions have not submitted any official proposal yet.
JN claim that the Seleccao player’s current contract at the Estadio do Dragao will expire in 2024 and there is a possibility that he might sign an extension.
However, if the Portuguese giants receive an offer of £35million, then he will be sold immediately.
It is reiterated that United are in pole position to seal the signing as they look to strengthen the midfield department and replace the likes of Nemanja Matic and record signing, Paul Pogba.
Vitinha is a versatile player, who can be deployed in multiple midfield roles. The youngster is already a regular starter for Porto and his impressive performances earned him his debut for Portugal (March 2022).
It will not come as any surprise to see him at the World Cup squad if he continues to do well. Moving to Man United would be a major step up in his career but for that, he will have to sacrifice Champions League football for at least a year.
