Manchester United are already making plans for future transfer windows and one major position they are looking to reinforce is left-back.

Having signed a right-back and two center-backs this summer, the Red Devils would complete a defensive overhaul with a new left-back.

Transfer – Man Utd now set for talks with midfielder, £12.6m signing fee plus wages will get deal done – Report

In the past few days, the club has been heavily linked with a transfer for Juventus youngster Juan Cabal.

The reason Man Utd want a new player in that position and understandably so, considering what has happened in the past couple of seasons.

Luke Shaw, when fit is one of the best left-backs in England. However, the English veteran has hardly managed to remain fit in the past season and a bit. Back-up, Tyrell Malacia, is nowhere to be seen with no indication as to when he will return.

This has prompted Erik ten Hag to use Diogo Dalot as the left-back, despite the Portuguese star naturally being a right-sided defender.

Now, as per Give Me Sport, Man Utd are set to make a serious attempt to sign a left-back in January with Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson one of the names on the radar.

The Cottagers will ask for around £35m to sell the player. Robinson has had an impressive few months for Fulham and if he continues performing at a similar level, it is only a matter of time before a big Premier League club comes calling.

The absence of a natural left-back has also affected Marcus Rashford’s performance at Man Utd. It is not the only reason for his poor form but it could be a key factor as the English forward is not a natural one-on-one attacker.

Signing Robinson now would be a smart decision from Man Utd. He can be Luke Shaw’s understudy initially before taking on from him for good.

The 27-year-old American international is one to keep an eye out on in the months to come and let’s see if the club makes a move for him in January.
