Manchester United have appointed their new manager Ruben Amorim who is set to take over at the club at the start of next week. It has been more than a week since they moved on from Erik ten Hag and rightly so.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken charge of the Red Devils as an interim manager. Under him, the team have looked far better on the pitch and have tactically looked sounder against Leicester City and Chelsea in the Carabao Cup and the Premier League respectively.

However, while Ruud has tried to retain as much as what Erik ten Hag’s system had in Man Utd, only making minor tweaks, Ruben Amorim is set to come up with a new set of ideas and is likely to implement his patented 3-4-3 formation that has been successful in Portugal.
Obviously, with Amorim coming in, there has been a clamor for him to bring over some of his Sporting CP players to Manchester United, and none more than Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish striker has been heavily linked with a move to Man Utd and a fee of around £50m-£59m is said to be enough.
Now, as per Dimitar Berbatov, via Sky Sports, he has endorsed Gyokeres to seal a move to Manchester United. Here is what he had to say:
“This guy, Viktor Gyökeres is scoring goals for fun right now, so I think there is a special connection with him and the coach. So maybe, we are probably going to see him in a United shirt at one point.”
Gyokeres is one of the hottest prospects in European football and without an iota of doubt, he is likely to bag a huge move next summer. Almost all of the top clubs around Europe would be interested in acquiring him.
At Manchester United, there are two young strikers who are trying to make it at the club. Rasmus Hojlund has had his fair share of successes but his fitness is not allowing him to enjoy a regular run in the number nine role. Joshua Zirkzee on the other hand is struggling to create an impact.
This could prompt Ruben Amorim to try and sign a new striker for his system at Manchester United and who better than Viktor Gyokeres? Only time will tell how things pan out for the Swedish striker and let’s see how it goes.
