Man Utd now ‘convinced’ they can agree ‘affordable’ deal to finally sign £84million player – Report

Old Trafford - Manchester United

Manchester United continue their pursuit of signing another center back after Leny Yoro, and once again, the name of Antonio Silva is in the focus.

As per today’s version of O Jogo (news image provided below), Man Utd are targeting the signing of Silva as Bayern and Everton play hard ball for the transfers of De Ligt and Branthwaite respectively.

The renowned Portuguese outlet cite reports from Britain and claim that the Bavarians want 50 million euros for De Ligt, but United do not want to meet the asking fee.

On the other hand, they have seen multiple offers turned down by the Toffees for Branthwaite, so Silva is in the focus.

Earlier this summer, Correio da Manha talked about United’s interest in the Seleccao defender and claimed that he will only be sold if the release clause of 100 million euros (£84million) is activated.

However, today, O Jogo report Man Utd are ‘convinced’ they can negotiate and agree a much more ‘affordable’ deal to finally secure the signing of Antonio Silva.

The question is, how affordable?

Man Utd are not willing to pay £42million for De Ligt and have seen their last bid of £50million rejected for Branthwaite.

Not to forget, Erik ten Hag’s team agreed a deal worth £59million to sign Leny Yoro from Lille. Now, how big should Man Utd bid to sign Antonio Silva?

The youngster was a key member of the Benfica squad that won the Liga Nos title in the 2022-23 campaign and made two appearances for Portugal at the recently concluded European Championships.
